Foots Cray

For those who need something more from their cross bike

Taking its name from our local, and the South East’s longest surviving cross race venue, the Foots Cray will be a head turning, bang up to date cross ripper. Low and long, it errs toward a contemporary school of geometry. Handling, and fun are at the centre of everything! With through axles front and rear, this disc specific will be ready for serious off road abuse, but still rock solid between the course tapes.

If you’ve always liked the idea of a cross bike, but think maybe i could do with something that could take on just that little bit more then, a Foots Cray could be the answer you’ve been looking for all that time. Capable come race day, but its out in the big blue yonder that its characteristics truly come to the fore.

Borrowing more from the mountain bike world than the cyclocross fields, the Foots Cray stands aside from most CX bikes. Aside from the monster clearance up front with the CTRL forks, the frame is around 20mm longer than a road bred cross bike for a given size. It is designed to run with a shorter stem to maintain the saddle to bar reach. A longer frame adds huge stability at speed as the wheel base is longer, and the design gives more room to move around between bars and saddle - its designed for big adventures where cross bikes usually dont fare. with 50mm between the rear stays and over 75 up front, big rubber fits fine, and with the usual Bowman attention to detail you know that the fun is going to last a long time.

7005-T6 Aluminium frame

High yield strength, triple butted and heat treated 7000 series aluminium lies at the heart of the frame. Forged and CNC’d with carefully considered details to improve comfort, ride or decrease maintenance.

Oversize Cross CTRL Fork

The scale of the full carbon fork hints at the purposeful nature of the Foots Cray. Room for 2.3” tyres, oversized and fully compatible with large 160mm rotors, the CTRL will take you through some serious terrain. Sub 500 grams, its girth belies a svelte feel with legs firmly tied together by a supplied 360 degree through axle.

Tapered Head-tube

Housing the oversize lower bearing, the tapered head-tube helps to maintain chassis stiffness. Offering a solid location for the oversize downtube, it allows the rider to hold lines in corners without worrying about frame flex.

Disc Mounts

All chainstay mounted - CNC machined - disc brake mounts allow for the use of 140mm rotors on the frame (and forks).

142 x 12mm Thru-axle rear

rock solid accuracy and retention come care of the 12mm bolt thru rear axle. Supplied with our 360 degree skewer, simply slotting into position, rotor and wheels track perfectly, every turn.

Forged BB Shell

As well as holding the bearings, the forged BB shell incorporates a reinforced opening for the cable routing making sure the downtube is welded around its full circumference. Recessed cable trough also protects the outers from damage.

Modular Cable Routing - Internal

Our modular cable routing allows the user to choose between mechanical shifting with full cable outers for superb weather resistance or electronic shifting simply by swapping out the capping plates and maintaining a stylish look.

Modular Cable Routing - External

At the rear of the frame, the full outer is held in place with our MCR-E bolt-on cable clamps. Run Electronic gears and the stops simply get removed for a clean look, with the EPS / Di2 cable running internally along the chainstay exiting at the ear drop-out.

Anodised frame finish (option)

with no paint to chip, and more resistant to scratches, this robust finish keeps the looks longer and saves 100-140grams over a painted frame.

T-Tube Top-tube

Ridged along either side, the wide, T-shaped - top tube resists the sideways flex that can reduce cornering stability whilst maintaining a balance of comfort thanks to the tubes smaller overall diameter.

Flared Seat-tube

Oversized at the bottom bracket to resist your pedal force, but tapering to fit a 27.2 seatpost to improve comfort without the need for creak prone shims.

Flat Seat-stays

wider than they are tall, the Flat Stays allow some flex vertically but resists side loading, helping keep the back end on track without beating the rider to pieces.

Hidden Guard Mounts

Practical without detracting from the clean lines, our hidden mounts at the tip of the rear dropouts allow for solid fixings for mudguard stays to add some practicality to your bike in wetter climates.

3D Printed Mudguard brace.

A removable brace, fitted when mudguards are used, allows for a more comfortable rear end of the frame without sacrificing any stability or function.

FSA, #42 ACB headset, Angle Slotted seat clamp, 360 degree thru axle skewers (front and rear), Flat mount bracket for 140mm rotor.
