Sizing queries and details

What size should I ride?

We would always recommend getting good fitting advice from someone who’s opinion you trust, possibly a professional fitter who will be able to interpret our geometry data to determine what size is best for you.
This table should give you a rough guide:

The best way for us to suggest which size may suit you, would be for you to send a side on photo of your current set up (if you are comfortable on it), as stem length and spacers will give us a better idea of the most suitable frame for you.

How are the top tube lengths measured?

The measurements are of an effective, horizontal top tube.

Do you do custom sizes?

Currently, we only make the five sizes listed on our website.

Do you make anything smaller / larger?

As we grow, we plan to offer an additional size at each end of the size range, but currently, we can only offer frames to fit from just under five foot, to just over 6 foot.

Technical queries

Do direct mount brakes fit the Palace?

The Palace frameset uses standard drop calliper brakes.

What sort of disc brake mounts do I need?

Bothe the Pilgrims and the upcoming Pilgrims, use a 140mm rotor compatible, post mount for the disc callipers. The maximum rotor size you can use on the frames is 160mm

What size and type of front mech do I need?

The Palace uses a 31.9mm band on front mech, or 31.9 braze on mech adapter bracket
The Pilgrims (and in the future, the Foots Cray) use a 34.9mm band on front mech, or braze on mech adapter bracket

What size and type of bottom bracket do I need?

All of our frames use a BB86, press-fit bottom bracket. All major component manufacturers make a bottom bracket to fit this fitment without the need for any spacers or adapters.

What headset do I need?

Our frames come with an FSA headset as standard. When you eventually need to replace the bearings, the model number you need is: FSA #42 ACB

What are the frame weights?

Our 56cm Palace frame weighs in at just over 1200 grams. The Pilgrims target weight is within 150grams of this. We plan to add the frame weights to the frame pages when we have enough time and stock to measure each size. Thanks for your understanding

Do you sell blank frames?

We do not sell anything but the shown colour options for our frames.

Buying a bike….

Can I visit to see the bikes?

We are not set up top receive visitors at Bowmans HQ, nor at our warehousing facility. We have a spread of dealers that will hopefully grow to include most areas, and we are often at shows, events and races. If you are not near one of them, drop us a line, and see where we are likely to be out and about next?

Can you sell to my store?

We are looking to expand our network of retail partners where there is a location gap. Get in touch with us directly via the contact page if you’d like to discuss working with us.

The Order process…..

The box says…

If you are one of the first 50 Palace frame customers of Bowman Cycles, your frame box sticker may confuse you. The boxes are labelled with the seat tube measurement, rather than the frame size as described on the website. This was an error during the labelling process. If you think you may have been sent the wrong size – there is a simple test to check. With a tape or ruler, measure the headtube length and compare this to the geometry chart on the Palace page.

Do you sell outside the UK?

We can sell internationally but, unfortunately, we are unable to offer free shipping as we do within the UK. Please drop us a line to enquire about an individual quote.

Can you do VAT free international sales?

Yes, please mail us, and we can give you a code to input in order to be charged the correct amount.

What warranty do you offer?

We offer a five-year warranty against material or workmanship failure for the original owner. Any queries, please get in touch with us directly if you purchased from is, or via the dealer if you bought from a retail partner.
